WHAT'S YOUR STYLE? MY JUNKIE JOURNEY!

Soooo...What exactly is your Scrapbook style?  Do you tend to stick to any particular style?  Do you find that you tend to stick to a certain type of page layout or embellishment?  Like chipboard?  Stamps?  Stickers?  Are you a digital scrapbooker or a traditional scrapbooker?  What size books do you tend to use?

As for me and my style, I love chunky and lots of stuff.  I embellish the hell out of everything!  Overstated, large and grandeur is me all of the way; which means that I also love bling!  Stickles, rhinestones, doesn't matter...I just am a sucker for shiny things!

As for my layouts, I am a traditional scrapbooker.  I am very tactile and I need to have something physical to touch.  I like dimension and texture.  I am intrigued with some of the digital things that can be done (like adding text to photos), but I have to have be able to touch the paper.

I am also a 12 x 12 layout scrapbooker. The main reason for the 12x12 is that I need the larger space to have room for my photos AND embellies.  I use full and pocket style/Project Life page protectors.  I discovered Project Life about 2 years ago but just very recently started actually doing it though I have been using pocket page protectors and cards over the past couple of years.  Because of Project Life, I have discovered that I am finding that pops of color (for me) speak more loudly than lots of stuff.  (Oh dear, I am the queen of stuff and have LOTS of it to use in the next 50 years.)

Though I am a Stampin' Up demonstrator and use lots of Stampin' Up products, I use lots of different supplies and I have lot of different brands in my stash.  Just like many others probably do, I tend to purchase whatever taps into my OOOOHHHHHH factor (or when I get sucked in, whatever the hottest new trend has been); so I have literally spent YEARS collecting (and hoarding, I'm afraid) scrapbook supplies.  

Once again, this is just a little bit of it.

Anyhoo, my ownership of the over abundance of endless supplies is (in part) the catalyst for my eclectic use of scrapbook supplies on my pages.  I like what I like and I don't want to be locked into a box with any one particular supplier/vendor/style, so the things that you will see here are an eclectic collection of things that I have purchased and are in my stash.  I am finding that a part of my niche is scrapbooking my stash because like I said, I have A L-O-T  O-F  S-T-A-S-H!  Therefore some things, (okay, a lot of things) you see on my blog may not be listed in regards to the supplies that I use, but whenever it is possible/feasible,  I will certainly share.  So, follow me on the trail of my junkie journey!  Here are a couple of pocket pages from last falls trip to the pumpkin patch.

DeCeMbEr dAiLy 2015

    Are you doing a "December Daily^® this year?  I think many of you may already be familiar with a "December Daily^® scrapbook style album.    If you are not, it is loosely an album that documents the month of December leading up to Christmas day or New Years Eve (and sometimes beyond – that’s completely up to you). It is a chance to reflect, to share, to celebrate December, daily life and the season in a manageable, in-the-moment type of way.  It is documenting the month of December using photos and words.  "December Daily^® is a December mini-album project that documents the 25 days leading up to Christmas. The simple goal is to capture the spirit of December via one story per day." - Ali Edwards


    As I understand it, the name December Daily^® and the concept behind it are the creation of Ali Edwards and is copyrighted. If you have never experienced Ali Edwards, I would recommend looking around her website and finding out a little bit of what she is about.  I am coming to love her take on documenting  life.  Her keen ability to draw you inward and examine the details of your life is phenomenal.  She does a lot of the pocket style of scrapbooking and her take on embellishing is somewhat minimalist; therefore she focuses on telling the story of your life mainly through pictures and words.  I LOVE Ali.  You can check her out here:

     Because "December Daily^®" is a copyright, others refer to their December albums as something different so as not to infringe on the copyright.  The other very common phrase I hear this event being referred to is Documenting December.  Stampin' Up! calls their supplies for this type of album "Hello December".

    This will be my first year actually doing an official "December Daily^® album.  I did do a Christmas album last year that is pocket style, but I did not finish it and it is very elaborate and detailed for pocket pages. It is a pocket page scrapbook album for our family's 2014 holiday season - not a December Daily^®. I do love it though.  It is very bright, blingy and sparkly...

        This year I did purchase the Ali Edwards "December Daily^® kit for the experience since this is my first official DD album.  I just got the main kit, as it is expensive, ($49.99).  I got a couple of stamp sets ($15 each, I think) and label stickers as well (additional cost).  Since this is my first official DD, I wanted the whole AE experience before I start doing my own thing with this lovely tradition. I just felt it would be easier to follow along using mostly the same supplies as Ali is; plus Ali has a blog where she posts ideas for journaling, photo collection and inspiration for the album layout.  She also posts her own album pages as she goes.  It's very cool.

     I have decided that I am also definitely going to be using the Stampin' Up! Project Life kit called:

Hello December Project Life Bundle 2015

Not sure yet whether I am going to incorporate both kits in the same album binder or do two separate albums but I'm leaning towards the former.  I'll have to feel it out as I go along but it seems to make more sense to just combine the two kits in the same book.

    Finally, I have to admit that I have been looking at other peoples December Daily inspiration online - yep, that's right - people have already started putting together their albums; some of them have their entire albums laid out already and I couldn't resist sneaking into my own Ali Edwards goodies.  The best case scenario is to have the album laid out before December so you can focus on capturing and writing your December stories in December.  Here are my two opening pages:  

Here it is!  The two page spread!  I am using a 6x8 album.

 The numbers are from Ali's kit (chunky and I love them) and the jewels are from the $1.50 bin at Michaels.  I used gold acrylic paint on the letters and the background paper is from M's as well.  The wooden veneer star is from Ali's kit.

The title "December Daily" and the gold striped Washi tape is from my Ali Edwards kit.

Everything else here is from my stash.  I used the Stampin' Up label punch and Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  The poinsetta is Prima and the gold jewel circle is Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.

Happy Monday?

Happy Monday All!

Okay, I mean it but I don't.  I hope everyone is having a happy Monday but Mondays are my least favorite day of the week because all I am thinking about all day is the fact that I have five days to work until I get through Friday.  So although Mondays are good days, for obvious reasons - (I'm alive and "talking" to you), for me they're also dreadful.

Just an example of Monday Madness for me - I am a makeup wearer; love the stuff.  Been using it since I was 14.  Of course back then I had to leave the house to put it on, but still.  Well...this morning I was running behind so I grabbed my makeup bag and ran out of the door.

While approaching a red traffic light, I thought that this would be a good time to get a head start on putting on a little makeup.  Because I was running late, I knew I couldn't get a whole face of makeup in before making it to my job, but I could at least start by and putting on my pink lip gloss.  That couldn't be so difficult to do in the car, right?  Yeah, right!!!

I reached into my purse.  I didn't need to look; I know the shape and feel of the tube.  Once located, I opened it without looking, removed the wand and used the tip of the wand to add a few dots across my bottom lip.  I thought to myself that the tube was getting dry and hoped that I had at least one more tube left in my stash because this is my F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E pink gloss.  Anyhoo, I rubbed my lips together to get even coverage on them.  I was staring intently at the traffic light to make sure it didn't turn green without me knowing thus having the cars behind me upset because I was sitting still at a green light.  HOWEVER - I had to replace the wand into the tube, which required me to look down for a moment.

I looked down and what to my wondering and disbelieving eyes did appear?  My mascara!  Right between my fingers. MASCARA???  I shook my head and looked again because there was no way I was seeing what I thought I saw.  Where in the heck did THAT come from.  WHO replaced my lip gloss with mascara?  I looked around as if to actually catch the culprit that played this dirty trick on me.  It's amazing how many things can cross your mind in a split second. I finally had the presence of mind to see if the person that played the trick on me did it before or after I applied my gloss. I slapped my mirror down, fully expecting to see pink lips but much to my shock, horror and dismay, they were black.  That's right.  B-L-A-C-K. Black lips.  And while I know this is the style for some, it is sooooooo not for me!  So for the next three traffic lights I was scrubbing my lips with all of the old receipts I could find in the bottom of my purse because old receipts is what I had at the moment and there was NO WAY I was walking into work and taking a chance of running into someone with black lips.

So, yeah...for me, Mondays are both beautiful and dreadful. I'd rather stay home and craft all day where it is safe and I don't run the fateful chance of walking around with black lips.  Monday!  Hmph!

Anyway, Saturday was my monthly day crop/class day.  I wanted to post the projects from Saturday earlier but I am just getting around to it tonight.  Better late than never, right?  I had planned on bringing yarn to crochet some booties for Christmas gifts but because of the Big Game (Michigan vs. Michigan State), it was strictly business.  In and out.  Which is okay with me.  At least I got to see a friend that I hadn't seen in a couple of months.   I swapped out the scrapbook layout I had initially planned for an easier choice due to the game as well.  People wanted to be home and I did too, truth be told.

I got the inspiration for the cards from Pinterest (who doesn't these days) but I cannot honestly say exactly where.   I see so much inspiration that most things are a blur for me.   Whenever, wherever, whoever...thank you for the inspiration.  Pinterest is a life saver for me lately because I've been too busy to be inspired, but anyhoo... here they are.  Hope you enjoy!
